About the role:
Smith.ai seeks a dynamic Head of Product Marketing to lead the product marketing strategy for our lean, fast-moving startup. This role isn't just about management—it's about owning the narrative around our AI Receptionist solution, shaping messaging, driving launches, and accelerating adoption and revenue. You'll partner with our Growth team to spearhead our evolution from a sales-led motion into a PLG + sales motion, enable our incredible sales team, partner closely with product as we furiously release new features and lead a small but mighty team.
Reporting directly to the CRO, you’ll blend strategic leadership with hands-on execution, bridging product vision and customer needs to drive significant growth.
The perfect person for this role is really smart and curious, a fantastic story teller and writer, with a burning desire to build an iconic AI business that transforms how small businesses grow.
What you’ll do:
- Messaging & Content Strategy – Own the development of compelling narratives, positioning, and messaging frameworks for our product suite. Produce strategic, high-impact content to attract new users, accelerate adoption, and amplify Smith.ai’s brand presence.
- Transformation into PLG - Partner with Growth and Product to transform our website and GTM from purely sales-led into a PLG + sales powerhouse.
- Feature Release Excellence – We have a furious schedule of upgrades and releases to AI Receptionist! Strategically plan and execute these launches across every touchpoint, working cross-functionally with Product, Sales and Growth
- Sales & Partner Enablement – Create and deliver scalable sales enablement resources and customer assets (eg case studies and references) for internal teams and external partners.
- Event Strategy & Management – Plan, orchestrate, and execute virtual and occasional in-person events through the development of event presentations and collateral to maximize conversions.
- Team Leadership & Development – Manage, mentor, and develop a small, high-performing product marketing team.
Traits of the ideal candidate:
- Ideally 7+ years of product marketing experience, including at least one stint at an earlier stage startup
- Prior management experience ideal but not required for the right person
- Whip smart with an urgency to get things done and have big impact
- Strategic storyteller with a creative and narrative-driven approach, likely a very strong writer
- Deep hands-on experience across core product marketing functions, including market research, strategic messaging, sales enablement content, competitive positioning, product-related educational assets, and strategic thought-leadership initiatives.
- Strong emotional intelligence, low ego and highly collaborative
- Master in managing complex, cross-functional projects, clearly defining roles and responsibilities, removing ambiguity, and ensuring seamless coordination between stakeholders at every stage
- Has an entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for hands-on execution
- Ideally you are passionate about small businesses, SMB GTM motions and PLG tactics
